The Green Industry in Georgia is Big Business

Recent reports from the Georgia Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development and Charlie Hall from Texas A&M show that the Green Industry makes quite an impact both in Georgia and across the country.

In the 2014 Georgia Farmgate report, the greenhouse sector leads the way with 43% of industry production, followed by container nurseries (24%), turfgrass (17%) and field nurseries (12%). McDuffie County lead the state in production, followed by Grady, Oconee and Fulton County.Click here for the full farmgate report.

In the National Numbers, the industry employees more than 1 million workers nationwide with over 60,000 of those working in the industry in Georgia. Click here for the full national report.

These types of reports are invaluable to GGIA's advocacy efforts. We urge you to take a look at the figures and become familiar with the impact the industry has at your local level. This can be powerful information when dealing with your local officials.
